The Dove, simplified

An equally small painting on a snowy day.
I wanted to paint the dove with as few marks as possible, almost like calligraphy.

on my easel today....

I'll probably adjust this a bit tomorrow.  I always seem to see things that need attention at the dawn of a new day.  I'll post the finished work soon.    6x6, oil

Sister's Wedding Petticoat

Trying on her big sister's wedding petticoat and browsing reception recipes. A glimpse through the open doorway of the youngest daughter--a penney for her thoughts.

Blue Heron Takes Flight

11x14 acrylic on panel
Blue Herons are not an uncommon sight in the Missouri Ozarks, but they never fail to take my breath away.  They are beautiful creatures and I love the moment that they lift off from the water and soar to the sky.

Black Bird, Sunny Day, Snowy Porch

8x8 oil on panel
Took another break from the painting and cropped the photo a little better. ;)

Looking Out on a New Day....completed painting

8x8 oil on canvas

I recently traveled to New Harmony, Indiana for the First Brush of Spring workshops and paint-out.  I was delighted to be able to take Carolyn Anderson's workshop. She is a brilliant artist and a gifted teacher. I learned far more than I ever expected to learn, and I expected to learn a lot.  I'm sure the new information will continue to work its way into my paintings over time.
